SEBRA – an interdisciplinary research environment

Sepsis is an overwhelming and life threatening response to an infection that can lead to organ failure and death. With an estimated 30 million cases anually worldwide, sepsis is a global health problem. To address the unmet needs of sepsis research we have formed an interdisciplinary and cross-faculty alliance; Sepsis and Bacterial Resistance Alliance (SEBRA). SEBRA is an awarded Creative Environment within Lund University,  aimed at improving sepsis care and research. The alliance consists of researchers and clinicians from the medical and technical faculties at Lund University and from Skåne university hospital.

This interdisciplinary research alliance brings together expertize in infection and critical care medicine, clinical microbiology with powerful technologies such as mass spectrometry, proteomics, advanced separation and visualization techniques. The alliance seeks to increase knowledge, raise awareness, and develop novel preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for sepsis.
